The 2016 You’ve Gotta Have Heart Honorees:
Steve & Lisa Bunnell
Currently the Chief Content and Programming Officer at Regal Entertainment Group, Steve started his career at the age of 14 working at the historic Chicago movie palace, The Granada, for Plitt Theatres. He eventually became a film buyer for Plitt where he was employed for 11 years. After a short stint at Mann Theatres as a film buyer and General Sales Manager for Samuel Goldwyn Films, Steve realized his dream and moved to NYC to work for the legendary Loews Theatres where he ascended to Head Film Buyer. After the tragic demise of Loews Theatres Steve became the Chairman of Distribution for Bob and Harvey Weinstein where he served 3 years and 7 days. Following his release he moved to Dallas to become the head of Global Programming for Cinemark. He is now happily living in Los Angeles working for Regal Entertainment Group.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Lisa joined Loews Theatres while still in school with the hope of getting to the premiere of U2 Rattle and Hum at the Loews Astor Plaza. Her intention was to quit her Loews job and pursue her dream as an executive in the fashion industry after the premiere. Her plan failed. After meeting U2, she remained at Loews for 17 years working as a film buyer for such legends as Frank Patterson and Travis Reid. After Loews was dismembered Ted Mundorff saved her career as a film buyer by hiring her to book the East for Landmark Theatres. She has spent her last 10 years proud and happy working for Landmark Theatres where she is currently VP Head Film Buyer. Steve and Lisa’s wedding was a post-Show East celebration in Manhattan in October of 1999 with family, friends and distributors in attendance. While this industry power couple has worked on thousands of films in Exhibition and Distribution, their proudest releases are their children. Steve has two adult daughters, Irene and Grace, and Steve and Lisa have a 14 year old son, Miles. Their 4 legged kids include two cocker spaniels named Kobe and Melo. And, at this writing, the family is preparing for a new addition, a Husky puppy named Shadow.
