Grants Spotlight: Community-Word Project

Community-Word Project (CWP) is a New York City based arts-in-education organization that inspires children in underserved communities to read, interpret and respond to their world and to become active citizens through collaborative arts residencies and teacher training programs. Variety New York’s generous support ensures that CWP can continue to fundamentally change the lives of NYC’s underserved, public school students.

Community-Word Project is pleased to announce the launch of their redesigned website, www.communitywordproject.org. Designed in partnership with www.revsquare.com and the generous support of Youth I.N.C., the website features the passionate voices of CWP’s growing community. A community united by the belief that creative learning through the arts ensures students develop critical thinking skills, tools for self-expression, and a solid base for lifelong learning. Through teaching artist training programs and collaborative arts residencies, CWP instills in students the importance of creativity, collaboration, and community.

“We are thrilled to have a website that reflects our commitment to community,” says Michele Kotler, CWP’s Founder and Executive Director. “The addition of a blog and portfolios of student art projects provides a space to celebrate the voices and stories of our students, educators and supporters.”

Craig Hayes, CWP’s Communications Manager, explains, “we have designed a platform for our teaching artists and staff to become thought leaders in the arts-in-education field. Creating and curating relevant content, based on our arts programs and their deep impact on kids’ lives, will ensure that the vital work we do will reach a significantly broader audience.”

Community-Word Project welcomes submissions from guest bloggers. For more information or to subscribe to newsletters, please contact Craig Hayes, [email protected] or 212-962-3820.
