As many of you know, one of Variety New York’s biggest fundraisers-the You’ve Gotta Have Heart Awards-is just over a month away. With the event upon us, it is a good time to recognize the value of mission based fundraising.
Each year, Variety New York partners with the Motion Picture Club to host the You’ve Gotta Have Heart Awards reception. At the event we honor an individual from the film industry who has achieved considerable success as well as made considerable contributions to their community. In support of Variety New York, and the year’s honoree, the motion picture industry generously contributes to the event which funds our grants and value added program for local arts organizations. While all of Variety New York’s fundraising campaigns support grassroots transformative arts programs, this event in particular demonstrates a seamless connection between our donor base and our organizational outcomes-an arts and entertainment industry is raising money to support the future of the arts being nurtured at the over 20 organizations Variety New York supports.
Last year, the event was so successful we were able to add eight additional grantees to Variety New York’s family. This year, the event is honoring Mr. Frank Carroll, a veteran in the industry who has sent over 40 years in film distribution at Warner Bros. Once again we look forward to the film industry coming out in support, not only of Frank, but all the potential “future Franks” getting their start in the arts through Variety’s grantees!
